Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR)
Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, is the international honor society of science and engineering. Since 1922, the Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR) program has provided undergraduate and graduate students with valuable educational experiences. By encouraging close working relationships between students and mentors, the program promotes scientific excellence and achievement through hands-on learning.
Research grants may be used to support scientific investigation in any field.
Undergraduate and graduate students and students in the health professions currently enrolled in degree seeking programs may apply. Sigma Xi strongly encourages applications from women and underrepresented minorities, including Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinx, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, or Native Hawaiians.
Membership in Sigma Xi is not required to apply, but we strongly encourage you to consider becoming a member prior to the grant application deadline. Visit the Sigma Xi website for information on membership.
