Department of Energy released the funding opportunity announcement for their Genesis Mission - Transforming Science and Energy with AI opportunity and the OSU internal limited submission competition is now open.
OSU is allowed to submit one application per focus area for either Phase I or Phase II. There are 99 different focus areas. Phase I awards range between $500,000 - $750,000 for a nine-month grant period. Phase II awards range between $1.5M - $2.25M for a three-year grant period.
Deadlines:
  • Internal limited submission competition deadline: Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm (Pacific).
  • Phase I applications: Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 11:59 pm (Eastern)
  • Phase II LOI: Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 5:00 pm (Eastern)
  • Phase II applications: Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 11:59 pm (Eastern)
It is possible that DOE will change the FOA between now and submission dates, please encourage researchers to review the FOA carefully.

The Genesis Mission Consortium will launch the Partnership Exchange on March 19 at 4:00 pm (Eastern) to help organizations identify collaborators for Genesis Mission opportunities, including the current RFA. Participation is optional and consortium membership is not required. Prepare now by identifying your RFA topics of interest and drafting short statements describing your collaboration interests and organizational capabilities.
