Clinical evidence on multi-micronutrient dosing in health outcomes
Clinical evidence on multi-micronutrient dosing in health outcomes
We are looking for outcome-specific human evidence on multi-micronutrient combinations at intakes above current Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs), with an emphasis on to cognitive health, immunity, mobility (bone/joint/muscle), gut health, healthy aging, or weight management and metabolic health. Our stretch goal is to use this clinical evidence to help identify meaningful biomarker cut-points that connect multi-micronutrient intake above RDA to measurable improvements in the above health benefit areas.
Relevant evidence may come from existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs), longitudinal cohort studies, or meta-analyses already conducted in this area. We also welcome partners who can re-analyze available datasets, including individual participant data (IPD), to generate new insights, as well as those with the infrastructure and expertise to carry out new randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and longitudinal studies in this area.
Solutions of interest include:
- Systematic reviews/meta-analyses on >RDA multi-micronutrient effects
- Studies evaluating synergistic effects of multi-nutrient combinations
- Re-analysis of existing RCTs/cohorts for >RDA multi-nutrient outcomes
- Access to or re-analysis of individual participant data (IPD)
- Longitudinal cohorts linking intake/status with weight/metabolic endpoints
- RCTs on >RDA multi-nutrient dosing for weight/metabolic outcomes
- Network meta-analyses of nutrient interaction patterns
Our must-have requirements are:
- Clear link to aforementioned health outcomes
- Evaluates intakes above current RDAs, not deficiency-prevention levels
- Focuses specifically on multi-micronutrient and/or multivitamin results (not single-nutrient studies)
- Demonstrates potential to generate credible human evidence on above-RDA micronutrient dosing (e.g., through existing data, re-analysis, or proposed trial design)
Our nice-to-have's are:
- For proposals focused on evidence synthesis or re-analysis: access to individual participant data (IPD) from prior trials to enable more granular evaluation of above-RDA, multi-micronutrient effects
- Studies that help define biomarker cut-points linking intake, nutrient status, and aforementioned health outcomes
What's out of scope:
- Non-micronutrient-based research, including macronutrient interventions
- Studies focused on undernutrition or deficiency-prevention only
- Single-nutrient research or interventions
- Animal-only or purely preclinical studies
