Equity, Access and Inclusion Leadership Council
Working to improve access and inclusion in the College of Science
The Equity, Access and Inclusion (EAI) Leadership Council includes the EAI Director, a graduate student and undergraduate student, a faculty representative from each of the college units, and the chairs of the Equity Data Collection and the Gender Equity Committees. The EAI Program Director chairs this council and ensures its work is well coordinated with other working groups.
Committee charge
The EAI Leadership Council provides a link between the college and each college unit and is charged with playing a major role in collaborating with each member’s respective unit on implementation of every aspect of the COS-DAP and how actions taken map to the COS-DAP.
The EAI Council is further charged with: determining appropriate metrics, keeping the COS community aware of initiatives and activities, tracking and measuring progress, promoting the broad engagement of faculty, staff and students in the college, as well as providing a formal annual progress report to the COS leadership and to the COS community.

Equity Data Collection Committee
Working to improve access and inclusion in the College of Science
The Equity Data Collection (EDC) Committee will include a Chairperson and five additional members, including three faculty or staff from different COS units, one COS graduate student or postdoc, and one additional OSU community member. The EDC Committee chair is a member of the EAI Leadership Council to support optimal communication and coordination of efforts.
Committee charge
The EDC Committee is charged with creatively and proactively guiding and providing support to the EAI Director and Council in any way related to collecting, analyzing and presenting qualitative and quantitative information that is needed for an evidence-based adaptive and iterative implementation of the COS-DAP. Included will be data at multiple levels and from both inside and outside the college that are needed to understand issues related to culture and climate, inclusion and access, achievement, attrition and equity gaps, and other issues faced by minoritized students, faculty and staff.

Committee responsibilities
Places in the 2021-2024 College of Science Diversity Action Plan that specifically task the EDC Committee with responsibility are the following:
- Goal 1, Action 3 - Conduct a baseline data analysis of college and unit level data
- Goal 1, Action 4 - Track and report progress to the EAI Council; develop comparisons with other OSU colleges and peer institutions
- Goal 2, Action 1 - Quantify attrition and retention rates, equity and education gaps
- Goal 2, Action 3 - Gather data on how well scholarship opportunities are serving students of color including intersections with marginalized gender identities.
- Goal 3, Action 1 - Track progress around “sense of belonging” and report on how this is assessed
- Goal 4, Action 4- Track and report on availability/access to global opportunities for minoritized students.
- Goal 5, Action 2- Assess the impact of external and internal communicating of EAI accomplishments, progress and challenges
- Goal 5, Action 3 - Track and report on faculty and student participation in COS EAI events
Gender Equity Committee

The Gender Equity (GE) Committee will include a Chairperson and six additional members, including three faculty or staff from different COS units, two COS graduate students (or one graduate student and one postdoc), and one additional OSU community member. The GE Committee chair is a member of the EAI Leadership Council to support optimal communication and coordination of efforts.
Committee charge
The GE Committee is charged with creatively and proactively determining evidence-based strategies to improve the sense of belonging and work status of women and LGBTQ+ community members. The GE Committee will support the EAI Director and EAI Council in gathering information and providing guidance regarding any and all issues related to improving outcomes for all COS members (students, staff and faculty) with marginalized genders or orientations.
