Please review the highlights of the schedules below for our FY 2023 funding opportunities. Remember to review the topics documents as soon as possible after the release date and see if there is a topic/subtopic pair where your research area allows you to be responsive. Visit our funding opportunity page for the full schedule!

Note that the topic webinars allow you to ask the topic managers clarification questions on the solutions they are seeking. We also hold a funding opportunities announcement (FOA) webinar, which describes the DOE SBIR/STTR Programs and how to apply.  Finally, we host a popular “Ask us” weekly webinar series to answer your application questions.

Partnering Support

Partners play a critical role in transitioning technologies from SBIR/STTR funded programs to the commercial market.  Throughout technology development and productization you will engage with a myriad of partners filling many different roles and providing many different capabilities.  Check out our new partnering resource page.

The release of our DOE SBIR Partnering website has been pushed back until next year.  In the interim, Tech to Market advisor, Carol Rabke, is working on organizing technology-based networking sessions with partners from the investment community and industry.  Look for details on how to participate to be announced soon! If you have immediate partnering needs, please reach out directly to Carol.

Revamped Phase 0 Tutorials

Our Phase 0 contractor, Dawnbreaker, has revamped our application tutorials, which break down our application process, and common questions and concerns into 36 short snippets. The updated tutorials are available either in podcast or PowerPoint slide format, depending on your preferred learning style.

Diversity

The Office of DOE SBIR/STTR Programs seeks to foster increased diversity in its applicant and awardee pools. We are always interested in opportunities to heighten awareness of the DOE SBIR/STTR program nationwide via outreach events, and welcome applications from under-represented groups.

Visit our web page for more information on our diversity initiatives.

Outreach

Events

We frequently participate in events that provide opportunities to meet with small businesses and entrepreneurs who may be a good fit with our DOE mission-focused SBIR/STTR topics.  Make sure you check our calendar often as we are always adding new outreach events!  Our publicly available external events over the next few months are shown.
